Why missed calls hurt plumbers
Most plumbing calls aren't casual. Someone's got a leaking tap, a blocked drain or no hot water, and they want help today. If you don't pick up, they rarely leave a voicemail. They go back to the search results and ring the next plumber on the list.
You're not doing anything wrong. You're on a job, in a roof space or driving between sites. Calling back an hour later often means the caller has already booked someone else. That's work you never even knew you lost.
How missed-call text back works
- A call goes unanswered. You're on a job and can't get to the phone.
- The caller gets a text from your business straight away. It says you're on a job and includes your booking link.
- They book themselves, or reply. The link shows free times from your booking calendar, inside the working hours we set up with you. Prefer to talk? They can reply with what's wrong, and you call them back when you're off the tools.
- They get a confirmation text. The booking lands in your calendar. If you use Google Calendar, it can sync there too.
What it could look like
Missed call, 9:15am
Your business: Sorry we missed your call, it's [Your business]. We're on a job right now. Book a time that suits here: [booking link] Or reply and tell us what's going on, and we'll call you back.
Customer: Hot water's stopped working. Booking now
Customer picks tomorrow, 8am
Your business: Thanks, you're booked for tomorrow at 8am. Need to change it? Use the same link or just reply.
Examples only. Names are made up, and we write your real messages with you before anything goes out.
What Rebookly sets up for you
- The missed-call text, written with you in your words. You approve it before it goes live.
- Your booking calendar, with your working hours, so customers can only book times you actually work.
- Optional Google Calendar sync.
- The other follow-ups that come with every plan: rebooking reminders, enquiry and quote follow-up, and review requests.
- A plain monthly report: messages sent, replies and bookings.
You don't learn any software. We build it, test it and keep it running.
Practical tips
- Keep the text short. Say who you are, that you're on a job, and what to do next.
- Set honest working hours. If you only take bookings until 3pm, set it to 3pm. That way the link never offers a time you can't do.
- Check replies at smoko. Replies are usually from people who want to talk. A quick call back while they're still waiting goes a long way.
- Think about urgent jobs. You might ask people with a real emergency to reply with "urgent" and their address. We'll help you get the wording right.
